After Tropical Storm Helene destroyed their home of ten years in North Carolina, Dalton, Abby and their daughter Isabella were searching for stability. FEMA’s Direct Housing program provided the family with a Transportable Temporary Housing Unit (TTHU) on their own property, allowing them to be right next door while they rebuild. FEMA’s Direct Housing mission provides eligible survivors with temporary housing in partnership with state and county officials to ensure families have a safe place to live while they continue their recovery. If you or someone you know was affected by the storm, there’s still time to apply for FEMA assistance. The deadline is March 7, 2025 – visit DisasterAssistance.gov, call the FEMA Helpline at (800) 621-3362 or find a Disaster Recovery Center near you at FEMA.gov/DRC.
